Evaluation - Question 4

Evaluation - Question 3

Evaluation - Question 2

How effective is the combination of your main product (video) and ancillary texts (digipak and advertisement)?
So I think that the main element of my CD cover is the image of the artist. This is the photo shoot which we took while shooting the canal scene. The image is greatly recognisable because the artist is wearing an identical version of the costume she did for the canal scene. Once people have seen the video, they could identify that this is the same artist on the ancillary work will increase profits. The thing about the canal scene was that the features were so bold (Red lips, red dress, floral scarf) that it contrasted so well with the scenery of the canal - Particularly because it was shot in daylight. Since I used this image, I moulded the whole album lead by the use of bold colours - By using a minimum of 3 main colours and two fonts.

I also found a lot of people liked the fact that my music video included a variety of costume changes - I used another photo  from the canal scene for the inside booklet in order to combine it with the image on the front cover - I didn't want to over-do anything, since my video contained so many different scenes, I stuck to one look so that the artist would be more likely to be recognized in the same look - Since she a upcoming artist. The second photo in my digital was actually taken in the same position as a shot in my music video - I did this so the audience could be able to see how the photo shoot is linked to the music video.

My magazine advertisement is almost identical to my digital pack - Again, I didn't want to change a lot because I wanted the artist to be recognised by this particular image on her CD cover. This piece was inspied by Jessie J's 'Who you are' billboard advertisements.

As you can see here, the image scale is so large that it fills most of the poster - This means the attention is all on the album and the artist at first sight. If I were to use a few images, this could possibly confuse the artist as the scenes would not be able to relate to eachother. Overall I think my digipak works really well with the canal scene and the colours and theme is allowed to relate to one another by the conventions which I followed - I think that I did follow the conventions of a typical pop CD and Advertisement which focuses aswell as promotes the artist and album.

Evaluation question 4

Evaluation question 3

Evaluation question 2

Evaluation question 1

Transcript for question 1:
Lana Del Rey's blue jeans influenced the video heavily through editing acting. I decided to use back and white during the projection scene to make it look appealing as I felt it would make it look like an old film to add elegance. She influenced me through acting as she captivates her audience and I wanted to do the same.

Marina and the diamonds influenced the music video as I wanted to use the same type of mise en scene as her primadonna music video becuase I was using her song and felt that her style would help make it look like a pop music video.

TLC's baby baby baby influenced camera work as through out the video they use a tilt which adds a really cool effect to it and makes it stylised. Whilst we filmed we used a more obvious tilt to add a fun effect to the video to make it look like a pop video.

Ellie Goulding's anything could happen also influenced us as I liked her costume and location, which is why we filmed at a canal.

My music video both challanged and followed Laura Mulveys theory that women are sexualised in music videos and not given the role men are usually given. My music video challanges this as the main artist in this video is a woman and she isn't sexualised but it also follows her theory because the artist is dressed in wedding clothing conveying her sticking to female gender roles.

My music video also follows Carol Vernallis' thoery. I think that my main stands out from the song. I have repeated scenes in my main and have frequent jump cuts. The main artist is also looking at the camera.

My ancillary products follow the conventions of real media products as I used the main artist in the digipak to establish who the artist is, clothing from the video to connect them together and a colour scheme of white, red and black which are colours mainly used in my music video.

Taylor Swifts red CD inspired the inside panel of my CD as I thought the simplicity was eyecatching and I want a quite simple layout, so I also decided to use strips but I put them behind the CD.

Lana Del Rey's magaine advert inspired my advert as she stuck to a specific colour scheme and only used her album cover image as her main image. I also liked her font which I decided to use.

Thanks for listening.

Evaluation Question 4

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

This is feedback on my ancillary work in production.

In relation to this feedback, I have learnt several different things about my ancillary products (in production) and what I needed to change for my final outcome. Firstly Einas (Maggie) mentions how the artists' name should be changed to a different colour as it fades into her hair, however I found it difficult to find a new colour to put it in. She also mentions how the inside of my digipak is really plain and how I should add in more things. I took this into consideration and added in alot more things. For example, the tracklist near the necklace and on the cd I added copyright information around the rim and also the copyright information. Additionally she goes on to mention how using a different colour for the background on the advert would be a better idea as the Red is used too often. I also took this feedback into consideration and changed the background of my digipak to a plain White.

This is feedback on the rough cut of my music video.

In relation to this feedback, I have learnt several different things about the rough cut of my music video. The main thing I learnt was that the scenes used were too long and needed to be trimmed as it she mentions how it gets boring watching the same scene. She also mentions how some scenes are repeated as the same shots are used often. From this feedback I have understood what areas I need to improve in order to create a better music video.

Audience feedback on finished ancillary products.

The feedback I received from Can was all positive. This is because, firstly Can talks about the digipak and how well I have followed the conventions of a real digipak. This is due to several bits of information in which I included, such as the track list, which was also said to make my digipak look more professional. Secondly Can could also see the link between my music video and ancillary products as he mentions that the colour Red and the necklace (synergy) in both the ancillary products and music video are obvious. Additionally he goes on to talk about my advertisement, where he also mentions how well I have followed the conventions of a real advertisement and also how I have used the same fonts as used in the digipak.  In relation to this feedback I think there are no improvement or changes needed as he could see the clear conventions followed and how the media products link well together. Using Cans feedback, I have learned that my ancillary products and music video all have a clear link.

The feedback I received from Amirul was positive and negative. To begin with the positive feedback, Amirul mentioned how it is obvious it would appeal to females due to the artist, herself being a female. Secondly he goes on to mention how well I followed the conventions of a real digipak and advertisement as the artist name is much bigger than the album name of both ancillary products, and also because I included the main things such as a barcode and record company logos. Additionally, he mentions how well the advert links to the digipak. However the main problem he noticed was that the album name on the front panel of the digipak was difficult to read due to the colour it was in (White). He mentioned how it clashes with the background and very hard to notice. In relation to this feedback, the obvious thing  I would change, if given a chance, is to change the colour of the album name on the front panel of the digipak due to how difficult it is to read. I have learned that the album name should have been a different colour in order to attract more of the audience.

Audience feedback on ancillary products, however this time talking about how the synergy is incorporated.

The feedback I received from this video was all positive. Firstly Eugenie mentioned that although my digipak was simple, it looks professional. Secondly she mentions how the costume used in the digipak was one of the same costumes used in the video as she had seen it. Thirdly she goes on to mention how the font colours link to the costume, e.g. the Red and this was said to be consistent as the colour was also used on the inside of the digipak. Additionally she says how the necklace inside the digipak was used in every costume change, which helps to combine the music video and ancillary products together. Furthermore Eugenie goes on to mention how the advert looks similar to the digipak as the same fonts are used. In relation to this feedback I think there are no improvement or changes needed as Eugenie could see how clearly the  conventions were followed and how the music video links with the ancillary products in terms of the synergy used. Using her feedback, I have learned that both my ancillary products and music video incorporated the synergy very well.

How did the audience react to your video after it was screened in the cinemas?

Luke gave me some feedback on my music video straight after it had been screened in the cinemas. Firstly he mentions how he enjoyed the different scenes, followed by this he mentions how well the costumes were used. He then goes on to mention how the media studio was a good location as it worked well with the song choice. In relation to this feedback I think one thing I would change, if given the chance, is to make it more obvious that there was a projector playing behind Einas as there was a slight confusion that green screen was used. This could be done by making sure the footage is well filmed. One thing I learned from this feedback is that the costume choices worked really well together as I thought it wouldn't work so effectively. It has definitely made me realise that the costume choices were in fact, perfect! :)

Wow, well Sharina didn't give me a lot of feedback but on the brighter side, the feedback she did give me, was positive! It is obvious she loved all the different costume changes, as she mentions this a few times. In relation to this feedback, there are no changes I would make.

I think Quddus enjoyed our music video as he mentions several times how it was "really good" :) He also mentions how he liked the effects. Additionally he mentions how our strongest scene was the scenes in the media studio, however he also thought it was green screen. In relation to this feedback I think one thing I would change, if given the chance, is to make it more obvious that there was a projector playing behind Einas as there was a slight confusion that green screen was used. This could be done by making sure the footage is well filmed. I thought the filming in Highgate woods was the strongest location, however in relation to this feedback I have learned that the strongest location choice used was the media studio.

Farheen mentions how the close ups used was well filmed and again, another person who talks about how well the costume choices were. She mentions how the locations and costumes combine together and fit together perfectly. Additionally she goes on to mention how well the wedding dress fits with the choice of one of the locations (Highgate woods). Furthermore she states that although the music video doesn't make any sense, she likes the suspense. In relation to this feedback, I know that the choices of costumes were perfect and fit in perfectly with the song choice and locations.

Damilola also gave some feedback on the music video just after it was screened in the cinemas and in relation to this feedback, there are clearly no improvements needed as she mentions this and also mentions how much she enjoyed it.

One thing, in general I could have done to help me understand what I have learnt is, I should have got feedback from people I didn't know as most of the feedback I recieved was positive. All of this positive feedback was probably given to me as the audience didnt want to sound too harsh. This therefore made it difficult to understand what I needed to improve for my final outcomes. Although I did get a few negative responses which helped me improve my final media products.

reasons behind location

I chose to use a photo studio as most artists use this as their basis for shooting a cover, it is an easy way to get as many photos as possible and it is easy to control the lighting whereas if i were to film outside i would have to bring lighting with me or do it in daylight.
