Brief overview of a good piece of student ancillary work.
Here is a image of a previous students ancillary work. I chose this digipack as I think this is a very good piece of ancillary work and it was also one of my favourites. This is because this digipack is very simple however it is attractive due to the simple colours used. The colours used for this digipack work very well together along with the choice of font working well together also. The main artist is clearly shown at the front as well as the artists' name and name of album cover. It includes a spine with the artists' name on it, includes a tracklist at the back, barcode, copyright information and a logo of a record company. However there are also some weaknesses. For example the choice of album name "REEMX" looks more like a advert for makeup. This is due to the letter "X" standing out most which is in red, which makes it look like a advert for Rimmel make up as it looks like red lipstick. Additionally the pictures used inside are very random and there are too many pictures used unnecessarily and this looks like its only been used to fill in blank spaces. Overall it is a very good piece of ancillary work and I believe it looks very professional.
The advertisement of this music video is also very good as it is again very simple, however informative. Additionally the colours and font work well together and haven't been changed from the colours and fonts used in the digipack which makes it look professional. However the stars are too big and the size of the font is also very big which makes it look like its only been done to fill in blank spaces.

Research (Ancillary) - Analysis of three digipaks
Here are three digipaks I have analysed which relate to the genre of my music video.
Research (Ancillary) - Last years digipak
Here is a copy of the digipak I created last summer. There are several different strengths however there are also several different weaknesses. One strength of this digipak is it clearly shows the artists' face and also the name of the artist in a clear white colour font. This will help to engage the target audience. However a weakness is; there are too many different fonts used in this digipak which makes it look unprofessional. Although this digipak sticks to only basic black and white colours which helps to make it look more professional. Additionally the back cover looks very professional as it includes a tracklist, a logo of the record company, copyright information, a website, a category number and a barcode. However it doesn't include a spine with the artists' name and album name. Overall I was happy with this digipak as it was my first attempt and was also created in just one lesson. The weaknesses will help me when creating my real digipak as I know where I went wrong I terms of making it look unprofessional.

Lana Del Rey Born To Die CD
1. has main artist on cover, one font used, two main colours white and blue,
2. back cover, tracklisting, 2 more colours added, black and red, same font used, bonus tracks highlighted as black to differentiate from other songs, production info listed
3. CD, plain, white background with roses on it, no artist name or album name, record label info.
How they relate to my genre and audience:
They are all from the pop genre, and two are from the same record label as my artist.
They appeal to the young adult - teenage age range as two of them use fun colours, having an artwork that appeals to them.
